Total Defence Day Reflection ♥Every year, Singapore celebrates Total Defence Day on the 15 of September. Total Defence has five aspects – Military Defence, Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence and Psychological Defence. These five aspects represent the key sectors of society. The theme for this year is , "I Will" . Our school had commemorated this year's total defence day in school, by using that theme. Out form teachers gave us 5 piece of papers each,and us told start with 'I Will', and to write down what we know about the five aspects of total defence. Next, we went around the booths set up by the uniform groups. We paste the papers on each board of different defences and watch the groups on how they demonstrate the defences. Then, we head to the canteen for our food rationing. The school provided us with some bread and plain water, to let us experience how our forefathers had food rationing in the past. Lastly, we went up to the hall for some performances, some are from the different races of dance. It was really entertaining and it also told us that we should respect cultures of different races. Through commemorating total defence day in school, I understand that respect is not confined to respect for there in authority. We must respect for peers and self-respect are equally important. We must also have excellence, always doing the best I can at all time. Friendship among people of different races is the key to peace and harmony too. |
